Tieos/Legends
- "I was shot down over Tieos. These are definitely not the guys you want to find you."
- ―Wedge Antilles, on Galactic Empire repulsorlift companies in an annotation made in a copy of Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide
Tieos was a planet[3] located in the Tieos system, a part of the Abrion sector[1] within the Slice portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] The planet featured several oceans on its surface, and its landmasses were completely covered in grasslands. Shortly following the Battle of Yavin, Tieos held massive future potential as an agriworld.[3]
The father of the Galactic Empire TIE pilot T. Alvak at one point served as senior port master of the Imperial base on Tieos.[4] At some point during the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance pilot Wedge Antilles was shot down over Tieos. In an annotation he later made in a captured copy of the Imperial Military manual Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide, Antilles mentioned the incident, further noting that downed starfighter pilots should put maximum effort into avoiding being discovered by repulsorlift companies of the Imperial Army.[5]
Behind the scenes
Tieos was first mentioned in The Star Wars Sourcebook, a 1987 supplement for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game authored by Bill Slavicsek and Curtis Smith.[6] The planet's first full appearance came in the 1998 video game Star Wars: Rebellion, which also provided Tieos's only visual depiction—an image also used to illustrate eighteen other worlds in the game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas subsequently placed the Tieos system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square S-15.[2]
