TT-8L/Y7: "Tee chuta hhat yudd!"
C-3PO: "Goodness gracious me!"
―At the door of Jabba's Palace[src]

The TT-8L/Y7 was an alternate model of the standard TT-8L gatekeeper droid designed for installation in a door or a door frame.

History

C-3PO encounters Jabba's gatekeeper droid.

Captain Neg had one TT-8L/Y7 droid guarding the door of his residence in Mos Espa in 32 BBY. While he was hunting banthas in the Dune Sea, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn tried to enter the house and rescue a local Ithorian boy named Tomo. The droid didn't let the Jedi enter the house, instead activating the security turrets near the gates, which forced Jinn to enter via a balcony.

Jabba Desilijic Tiure used a sadistic TT-8L/Y7 to guard the gate to his palace on Tatooine. It would let R2-D2 and C-3PO into the palace in 4 ABY, who were delivering a message from Luke Skywalker.

A similar droid guarded Ka'Pa's palace and didn't allow Mara Jade audience. Mara had to be disguised as a Tusken Raider in order to fool the droid.

One appeared guarding Brogar's Safe House on Socorro in 137 ABY, but appeared to be controlled by a Gotal at the door.
