The Support Service Branch was a division of the Imperial Navy. It provided support services to allow the personnel of the Imperial Navy to carry out their duties.[1] It was responsible for specialty systems, such as medical, navigation, communication and weapons.[2] The main divisions of the branch were Ordnance, which installed and maintained armaments; Gunnery, which supplied personnel to use the armaments; Communications, responsible for handling information systems and traffic; Biological, charged with medical services and research; and Astrogation, responsible for hyperspace and navigation-related matters.[3]
