Sonic dampener
A sonic dampener was a form of ear insert that limited the amount of sound the reached the inner ear, thereby reducing the risk of injury in beings who had sensitive hearing. These devices were popular among beings who worked in mines, or among the support personnel in a war, since they helped deaden the impact of an explosion's noise.
