Sig Coven was a spacer who would introduce himself as an "independent fortune seeker and scout". He was skilled at melee combat, astrogation, and computer programming, and was known to carry a blaster pistol, a glowrod, thincord, and a grenade.

At some point, he happened upon Kragg's Fury. Not able to identify the ship, he teamed up with Jonas Durns, Durns' family, and a group of other spacers for an expedition to explore and identify the ship.[1]
