Science research droids were a line of astromech droids that were produced during the early Galactic Civil War. As their name implied, these droids were designed to collect specimens and conduct scientific research. By 0 BBY, their design was considered top-notch. In order to be adaptable to any terrain, they could retract their wheels and use feet instead.
