Salo Gardner
Salo Gardner (1936 – December 2, 2018) is credited by John Mollo as portraying one of four "local ugly men" in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[1] Like the others in his group, his distinct features led to him appearing in the cantina without any makeup (seated next to the Tonnika sisters at the bar). In the same film, Gardner portrayed a stormtrooper as well.
He appears in the documentary The Director and the Jedi, released as a home video extra for Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi.
Gardner once again appeared as an extra in Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace and Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens, playing Trinto Duaba in the latter. Gardner was at one time believed to have also played Duaba in A New Hope,[2][3] but Chris Trevas says Duaba was portrayed in that film by an American extra wearing a mask made by Rick Baker.[2]
