Rock Hound (creature)
The Rock Hound was a four-legged canine species found inside caves in the Tatooine desert. The creatures burrowed into nearby rocks and would burst to the surface to attack an enemy. A number of the canines inhabited a cave known as the Rock Hounds' Lair.
Behind the scenes
These creatures first appearing in the 1991 Star Wars video game were unnamed in the game itself. An article in an issue of Nintendo Power referred to them as Rock Hounds. In the instruction manual and Star Wars Hint Book, however, they were erroneously referred to as womp rats.
