A roboticist was an individual who designed droids. Morgan Katarn, a leader within the Alliance to Restore the Republic, became a roboticist through self-study and designed his own multi-purpose droid, WeeGee, before his death[1] in 1 BBY.

Morgan Katarn is characterized as a roboticist in the opening chapter of the Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire novel (1997) by William C. Dietz.

In real life, a roboticist is an engineer that specializes in the constuction of robots.[2]
