"The Republic Office of Criminal Investigations has tasked the Sector Rangers with rooting out ration fraud and enforcing the Victory Rationing Orders and Regulation Plan."
―HoloNet News report[1]

The Republic Office of Criminal Investigations (ROCI) was the primary criminal investigative service managed by the Republic Judicial Department. The ROCI was charged with coordinating criminal investigations,[1] operating the Sector Rangers,[3] and managing the Republic Enforcement DataCore.[4] It was headquartered at the Judicial Arcology on the planet Coruscant.[1]

At the start of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY,[2] an issue of the CoCo District Edition of the HoloNet News stated the Republic General Ministry initiated the Victory Rationing Orders and Regulation Plan to manage war materials and slow spiraling inflation.[1] By 21 BBY,[5] the program was dealing with problems of fraud, and in response, the ROCI tasked the Sector Rangers with the enforcement of the plan's regulations.[1] In 21 BBY,[5] a CIS Shadowfeed issue stated that[6] the moon[7] Nar Shaddaa was outside the ROCI's jurisdiction.[6] With the formation of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY,[2] the ROCI was reorganized as the Imperial Office of Criminal Investigations.[4]

Behind the scenes
