A remote slicer was an illegal device which could copy a starship's memory banks—either everything or only select parts—remotely. The Rock Dragon and Slave IV had these pieces of equipment on board. Data that could be obtained in this fashion included star charts, the coordinates of recently visited planets, and other data kept within a vessel's main computer.
