Radiation storm
Radiation storms, also known as radiation fields were a natural phenomenon that occurred in space.[1] Radiation fields varied in intensity, but were known to damage or outright destroy ship systems regardless of shields - this made them a space phenomena that pilot's often tried to avoid if possible.[1] The Bank of the Core's GCC-1000 was specifically designed to be resistant to radiation storms.
