Radiation shielding

Radiation shielding was a protective system that was used by starships and droids. Industrial Automaton's R-series of astromech droids all featured radiation shielding which was an improvement over the company's P2-series astromech droid. The shielding was also used to protect ion drive components in transit since they could be damaged by exposure to radiation.
