Puffer turtle
Puffer turtles were a reptilian species of turtles found in the swamps of Clak'dor VII, a planet ravaged by biochemical warfare. Some of these turtles were violet. The species possessed bladders which they could swell to a point that stretched the flexibility of their shells. When they exhaled from the bladders, it could produce a sound similar to a low note on a bassoon.
In the year 24 ABY, the Bith band Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes incorporated the sounds made by a nearby puffer turtle, along with other animals, into the music they played when they were in hiding from the Black Sun criminal organization.[1]
Behind the scenes
A puffer turtle first appeared in Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta's 1998 book Young Jedi Knights: Trouble on Cloud City, the thirteenth novel in the Young Jedi Knights series.[1]
