PTP link
The PTP link or point-to-point link was a simple multichannel communications device capable of transmitting audio signals up to 25 kilometers away.[2]
Available in a wide range of styles and sizes, PTP links were popular during the time of the Galactic Republic.[2] Eventually new and more powerful forms of telecommunications - such as the HoloNet - made PTP links obsolete.[2] Despite the obsolescence of PTP links, they found a large following among the Rebel Alliance due to the fact that most modern communications devices were incapable of picking up PTP transmissions, making them ideal for covert communication.[2] With the addition of a PTP encryption device, a PTP's archaic transmission format was virtually undetectable.[2] Basic models cost 150 credits to buy, although models with encryption packages could cost up to a 1,000 credits.[2]
