The monarch of Alderaan was the king or queen reigning over the planet of Alderaan. He or she was chosen by and among the Great Houses of Alderaan. Years before the capital city of Aldera was founded, the monarch was officially elected and anointed in the Elysium, a stone hall located in the Glarus Valley. The first monarch of Alderaan, King Darrus, belonged to House Alde. His successors included scions of House Panteer, the House Ulgo and the House Organa. The latter had remained the ruling dynasty for decades when Alderaan was destroyed by the Galactic Empire in 0 BBY.
