The Minavar system was a star system[2] located within the Outer Rim Territories' Bheriz sector.[1] At some point, an expedition that included the Human infant Reina Gale and her family established a colony within the system.[2] By 0 ABY,[3] however, the colony was ravaged by a virus that killed nearly its entire population, including Gale's parents, and the girl was left in the care of her uncle.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Minavar system was first mentioned in the 1994 roleplaying game article "It's a Gambler's Life." The article was written by Anthony P. Russo and published in the fourth issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine.[2]

When the 1998 Star Wars Encyclopedia gave the system an entry, its name was misspelled as "Mindavar system."[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Minavar system within grid square U-10.[5]

  3. The events of the narrative sections of "It's a Gambler's Life" – Star Wars Adventure Journal 4 are set during the existence of the Pentastar Alignment, no less than twelve years after Reina Gale became an orphan. Since The Essential Atlas states the Alignment was absorbed by the Imperial Remnant in 12 ABY, it can therefore be deduced that Gale's parents died in no later than 0 ABY.
