Maro Della
- "The micro-grenade launcher is a devastating weapon, but make sure that you replace the magnetic rings that propel the explosive. During a firefight on Maro Della, the rings—which had degraded after repeated use—failed and jammed a grenade in the barrel. I only had a couple of seconds to toss the gun before the grenade detonated."
- ―Hyannis, Gundark's Gear Datalog
Maro Della was a terrestrial astronomical object[3] located in the Maro Della system of the Mektrun sector,[1] a part of the Western Reaches portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1] At some point by the date 38:4:1:02, the individual Hyannis was involved in a firefight on Maro Della. During the skirmish, Hyannis prepared to fire a Model MGL-1 micro-grenade launcher. The magnetic rings that propelled the weapon's projectiles, however, had degraded due to lack of maintenance and failed. As a result, a micro-grenade was jammed in the weapon's barrel, and Hyannis had to throw the launcher away before the grenade detonated within seconds. Hyannis later mentioned the incident on Maro Della in the illegal database Gundark's Gear Datalog.[3]
Behind the scenes
Maro Della was mentioned in the 1997 sourcebook Gundark's Fantastic Technology: Personal Gear, which was published for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Maro Della system, and therefore the celestial body, in grid square L-17.[2]
