Lormar-class Refinery Station
The Lormar-class Refinery Station was a KDY-designed space station used extensively by Lant Mining Corporation.[1]
A mobile (although painfully slow) mobile refinery for metal and mineral ores, the Lormar station was used when construction of planetary facilities and transportation to existing refineries was deemed too costly. Deployed in orbit and largely immobile, the stations were known to move to a new location only a handful of times over their careers.[1]
Essentially self-contained cities, many employees (and even their families) have been known to never leave the station until the end of their contract, with many spending years at a time on the craft. Decommissioning a Lormar was likened to wiping out an entire community.[1]
