"Lifath—what news do you have of the New Republic's Fifth Fleet?"
Dar Bille, addressing the proctor of information[1]

Lifath was a designation in the Yevethan language, which the commanding primate of the Viceroy's flagship, Pride of Yevetha, used to address the proctor of information during a meeting aboard the vessel.

Behind the scenes

The source for this term is a single line of dialogue in the novel Before the Storm. The entry for this word in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia explains the term as "[t]he proctor of information on the Pride of Yevetha."

The compilers of the Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia may have understood the word as a personal name, but the form does not correspond to normal Yevethan naming patterns, which feature a three-letter forename and a second name with a double letter (e.g. Nil Spaar, Tal Fraan). Moreover, the word is placed in italics in the text, a device normally used to indicate untranslated phrases from the fictional Yevethan language. Additionally, the scene does not fully clarify whether the remark is addressed to the named "proctor of information science" Vor Duull, who has just arrived aboard the flagship in the retinue of the Viceroy, or an officer with similar responsibilities serving in the flagship's own crew.

The exact interpretation of the term remains ambiguous.

This wiki formerly contained a duplicate entry for Lilatb, purportedly a Yevethan personal name, and evidently a misreading of the same word.
