Kal Clancy was a freighter pilot and father of Taryn Clancy. He was disappointed that his daughter, when she grew up, chose a career with the Core Courier Service rather than a more dashing profession. Though he did not tell her, he grew to be proud of her. He was the captain of the Lassen.
