Information retrieval systems were computers which allowed individuals to retrieve stored information.
History
To prevent the Galactic Empire from discovering that the Tantive IV had been carrying the Death Star plans, the Tantive IV's on-board information retrieval system was wiped clean before the Imperial forces boarded the vessel.[1]
