Imperial Machines was a weapons company that manufactured the I.M. mine.

Behind the scenes

"I.M. stands for "Imperial Machines," an outside contractor of Imperial weapons. I think Moff Rebus did some work for them but he hated their political infighting, and he wanted a more creative environment."
Justin Chin[src]

Imperial Machines was named in a 1996 press release for the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, although not mentioned in the actual game. Justin Chin, the writer and lead artist for Dark Forces, has stated Moff Rebus worked for Imperial Machines, however, this has not been confirmed in any canon source.[1]
