A hyperspace compass[1] allowed starships to navigate by orienting on the center of the galaxy.[2][3][4] These devices often served as backups in case of navigation computer failure,[5] and could be used in both hyperspace and realspace.[2][3][4] In 10 ABY, lizard-like alien tried to sell the compass to Han Solo, speaking in Huttese language, to which Han replied that he doesn't need hyperspace compass and told him to "buzz off".[1] Powerful twin bonds, like those of Jaina and Jacen Solo, could send ionic discharges that reoriented core-relative compasses.[6]
