This article contains information from an unlicensed Star Wars Legends source.

This article's subject originated in a source that was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, and its licensing status was never confirmed by Lucasfilm Ltd.

The Hearst was a Corellian Class VI bulk freighter, launched in around 70 BBY and used during the Galactic Civil War as the mobile base of Freedom Galactic News.

After a long career as a cargo hauler, the Hearst was modified at around the time of the Battle of Endor to serve as the roving base of an independent newsfeed, broadcasting from the Outer Rim—and in this new role, the old ship's battered, time-worn hull concealed a bright, modern interior.

Although the aging drives did not provide enough power to allow the ship to operate its transmission array while in transit, the recording studio boasted top-of-the range production equipment and the main computer contained a powerful news database. The main hangar was a treasure-trove of useful scrap and junk, and the accommodation for the crew and news team was well-appointed, with a shared kitchen and living-room, and ten passenger cabins, each with en suite bathrooms.

Behind the scenes

The Hearst appears only in an issue of the French RPG magazine Casus Belli, although another Class VI freighter would be shown a few months later in Heir to the Empire 3.
