A gravfield generator was a small reverse repulsorlift generator.

Commonly used in man traps, gravfield generators—despite their small size—were capable of intensifying local gravity fields up to a factor of eight, and were capable of generating fields so strong that not even a Wookiee could escape.

Due to the power of gravfield generators, they could have a number of detrimental side effects to living sentients, such as in the R-TechApp Man Trap; a pinned subject's heart and lungs often struggled under the heavy gravity, while vital fluids were forced through grav-compressed passages that could burst from the strain. Blood could pool in abdominal organs, while the brain starved from lack of oxygen. Cardiac arrest was also highly likely.
