Star Wars: The Scripts (subtitled Star Wars: The complete continuity Scripts) is a book collecting the final version of the scripts of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, with the addition of a selection poster of those movies.[1]

Publisher's summary

Star Wars: The complete continuity Scripts provides for the first time an accurate record of the scripts from three of the most astonishing and successful science-fiction films ever made. Published to coincide with the release of the three films under the THX Digital Mastering process, this is an opportunity for Star Wars enthusiasts and film fans alike to see this extraordinary, ground-breaking trilogy in a dynamic new way, and at the same time to see how the script was put together.

The Scripts from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi have never been published together before. Furthermore, the previously published script books carry the full script of each movie before it reached the screen; these are known as 'shooting scripts'. Star Wars: The complete continuity Scripts presents the script from each film as it appeared in the final version of the film itself. Decisions taken at the time of filming, and cutting decisions taken at the editing stage, mean that a shooting script is never an accurate representation of what we see in the cinema. The Star Wars scripts are no exception to this.

Also unique to this is the time code that appears on each page, this allows a reader to follow, closely, the action as it unfolds on the screen.[1]
