EX-1-2 was an Imperial TIE/sa bomber[2] manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems.[1] As a TIE/sa bomber, EX-1-2 boasted incredibly precise computers that allowed its pilot to destroy specific buildings or vehicles.[3] In 4 ABY,[4] EX-1-2 was secured above a hangar bay floor on the Empire's Death Star II superweapon when the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader arrived to discuss the Death Star's lagging construction schedule with Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod, the Imperial officer in charge of the Death Star.[2]

Behind the scenes

EX-1-2 first appeared in the 1983 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.[2] In 2003, it received a name on a card for the Empire Strikes Back expansion set of the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Trading Card Game. Though that card game is set around the 1980 film, Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back,[3] EX-1-2 does not appear in that film. Furthermore, while the film's 1997 Special Edition release uses alternate footage of Vader's Death Star visit to represent him arriving aboard his flagship, the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Executor, following his duel with Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker on the planet Bespin, EX-1-2 is not visible in the footage that is used.[5]
