Choco
Choco was an R2 unit with a rounded body and only one center leg who was a prisoner of the Great Heep on the planet Biitu. The clumsy droid was the first to encounter R2-D2 after he had been thrown, deactivated, into the Heep's Droid harem. Extending one of its hidden mechanical arms, the droid reactivated R2 and the two droids quickly became friends. However, the friendship suffered a setback after R2-D2 became infatuated with an egg shaped astromech droid named KT-10 and began ignoring the spherical droid. Following the defeat of the Great Heep, the spherical droid joined forces with the other liberated astromechs to revive KT-10, who had been completely drained of power as a result of being fed to the Great Heep.
Behind the scenes
Choco first appeared in the Star Wars Droids TV special The Great Heep. The droid is not named in the special, but was identified in A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, Second Edition, Revised and Expanded. Both the second and third editions of A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, the Star Wars Encyclopedia and The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia identify the droid as an R2 unit.
Choco's overall design in the concept animation cels bore some similarities to BB-8 from Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. The similarities were noted by Stefan Pfister on Star Wars Sourcebooks.[1]

Star Wars Sourcebooks on Facebook: Choco concept cels (November 2, 2015): "BB8 is that you? Nope, that is "Choco" from the Droids tv show. From a certain point of view designwise, Choko may tell BB8: "I am your father!" Droids did it all first after all! (Stefan)" (content obsolete and backup link not available)
