This article is about the real-world author. You may be looking for Palob Godalhi or the Rodian Pablo.

"The job is mostly research into precedent and history. I'm not the one who says "how about a dog that plays basketball?" I'm one of a team that says "there's nothing in the rulebook that says a dog can't play basketball.""
―Pablo Hidalgo on his role as Lore Advisor[2]

Pablo Hidalgo (born October 12, 1974) is a Chilean-Canadian[source?] executive and author at Lucasfilm, and is a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group. Pablo served in the role of Creative Executive at Lucasfilm[3] until he was promoted to the title of Star Wars Lore Advisor by the time of the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi.[1]

In addition to his Star Wars work, Hidalgo has written or co-authored reference guides for both the G.I. Joe and Transformer franchises.[4]

Biography

"I'm just a Clippy that appears at the bottom of a script in progress. "It looks like you're trying to mention an Outer Rim planet... would you like some help?""
―Pablo Hidalgo on his role as Lore Advisor[5]

Pablo Hidalgo is known for his creation of material ranging from West End Games role-playing game (RPG) resources to content for StarWars.com, where he went under the screen name of Pabawan. He is also a founding member of the Star Wars Fanboy Association. He served as Internet Content Manager for Lucas Online until 2011, and also worked as a comics writer on StarWars.com. Until January 2000, Hidalgo wrote and managed the Star Wars Index at echostation.com, when he abandoned the project to work for Lucasfilm.

He had a cameo playing Janu Godalhi (an anagram of Pablo's real-life father, Juan Hidalgo) in Revenge of the Sith and was also referenced with the character Palob Godalhi. After The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm, Hidalgo was assigned a job within the[6] still newly formed[7] Lucasfilm Story Group, a small group of Star Wars experts whose main purpose is to create and maintain one cohesive canon, thereby eliminating the previous hierarchical canon. Hidalgo is currently a creative executive in story development at Lucasfilm, as well as one of the members of the Intellectual Property Development Group.[6] He is well known for writing the reference books that accompany the release of new movies.
