Dynast was the title used to describe the leader of a Noghri clan. They usually met in the Grand Dhuka to meet and discuss issues involving the whole of Honoghr, as well as pay tribute to the Galactic Empire when Honoghr was under Imperial control.
It is unknown what duties or powers the dynast and the maitrakh shared but they seemed to hold some authority over the maitrakhs. This was indicated by a dynast telling the maitrakh of clan Kihm'bar that she could not speak at the Grand Dukha as no convocate had been called.[1]
History
When Leia Organa Solo went to speak to the dynasts in the Grand Dhuka, in 9 ABY, there were thirteen middle-aged male dynasts.[2] Additionally when Leia dismissed the Noghri from role as her personal bodyguards, she informed the dynasts of this.[3]
