The South Slope, also called the South Ridge, was an area on the Clabburn Range of the ice world of Hoth that was immediately to the south of the Rebel Alliance's hidden Echo Base.

During the Battle of Hoth it was used as a staging area for evacuating transports and the starfighters that were to escort them past the Imperial blockade of the Hoth system. As the situation grew dire, Princess Leia Organa ordered additional troops to fall back to the South Slope in order to protect the T-65 X-wing starfighters against the possibility of attack by Imperial snowtroopers. R2-D2 was waiting for Luke Skywalker aboard his X-wing starfighter. Luke and Wedge Antilles both departed from this range.
