'''Phobium''' was a dense, metallic alloy based on the ore [[chanlon]], indigenous to the planets [[Gargon/Legends|Gargon]] and [[Dor]].

It was first discovered many millennia before the [[Galactic Civil War/Legends|Galactic Civil War]] for use in [[Power pack|power cells]]. [[Jedi Knight/Legends|Jedi Knights]] would sometimes use phobium power cells and [[Crude phobium emitter|emitters]] for their [[Lightsaber/Legends|lightsabers]]. During the [[Galactic War]], between [[Galactic Republic/Legends|Galactic Republic]] and [[Sith Empire (Post–Great Hyperspace War)|Sith Empire]], phobium was used to build [[Armor/Legends|heavy armor]].

During the early years of the Galactic Civil War, [[Galactic Emperor/Legends|Emperor]] [[Palpatine/Legends|Palpatine]] stationed work crews on Gargon to mine the element. The ore on Dor was processed and mixed with [[Doonium/Legends|doonium]] compounds, which in turn were used to coat the power core of the [[Death Star II/Legends|second Death Star]].
