When [[Tan (title)|Tan]] [[Maarek Stele/Legends|Maarek Stele]] in a [[TIE/D Defender|TIE Defender]] was launched to [[Ambush on Hashim|fight]] of the Pirate strike force consisting of the transports, [[R-41 Starchaser]]s and a [[Strike-class medium cruiser]] ''[[Intombe]]''. '''Ibutho 1''' had docked with the ''G'nabgib'' captured the scientist and jumped into [[Hyperspace/Legends|Hyperspace]]. Stele managed to destroy all the other transports from ''Ibutho'' and drove of the Pirate force.

''Ibutho 1'' was used to transfer the scientist to the Empire as part of their decision to [[Ransom/Legends|Ransom]] the scientist to the highest bidder which was the Empire. However, the Pirates gravely underestimated the Imperials and were [[Battle of Kiilimaar|trapped]] by [[Immobilizer 418 cruiser/Legends|Interdictor]] ''[[Red Claw]]''. The pirates were eliminated and '''Ibutho 1''' was captured to recover the ransom.
