The '''Clatear''' were a [[Species/Legends|species]] of [[Sentience/Legends|sentient]] [[Humanoid/Legends|humanoids]] that were recognizable by their horned heads. They had been feuding with their neighbors, the [[Nhoras]], since approximately [[580 BBY]]. Both species lived in a [[Sector/Legends|sector]] that was possibly near [[Cilpar]].

The [[Jedi Order/Legends|Jedi Order]] attempted to mediate the conflict for five generations without success; the feud was, however, interrupted when their [[Homeworld/Legends|homeworld]] was occupied by the [[Galactic Empire/Legends|Galactic Empire]]. After the Imperials pulled out, the Clatear were left with a well-armed military force. During the [[Caamas Document Crisis|tensions]] over the [[Caamas Document]], the Clatear and the Nhoras took advantage of the [[New Republic/Legends|New Republic's]] apparent policy of not interfering with local conflicts, and began preparing for open warfare once again.
